We
do some of our youth work in partnership with the other
local churches, under the management of Chapel Allerton
Youth Project: working with young people across three
churches and the community in a growing project that
inspires, releases and gives opportunities to share our
faith in Jesus.
Hannah Dey
is the youth worker for this project - do get in touch
if you'd like to find out more about any of the
groups.
Totally
Tuesday
is a club for young people in school years 6, 7 and 8
at the Methodist Centre, Town Street. It meets from 6.30 -
8pm during
term-time - here's what we get up to:
Games,
craft, activities, discussions, socials and
snacks. We encourage young people to get involved in
leadership and shape the work we do.
WOW
Youth Group
happens
on Wednesday evenings in term-time at the Methodist Centre
7.30 -9.15pm. It's open to school years 9+ and there
are a range of activities to get involved in:
Pool, table football, table tennis, sports, craft,
discussions, tuck shop and lots more!
This group is increasingly managed by our peer leadership
team - young people who are involved in making decisions
about the group and helping to run
it.
Youth
Cells
There
are currently three cells groups running - the latest
one was launched in September 2010. Cell groups
are open to young people in school years
8 and over and meet all over Chapel Allerton in
people's homes - contact Hannah Dey if you're
interested in becoming part of one.
Cell groups offer space to explore Christian
faith together in a fun and enjoyable way and the chance to
get involved in leading. We spend our sessions playing
games, watching DVD clips, discussing the bible, praying
and eating biscuits and cakes.
Once a term the youth cells gather together to celebrate,
play games and other activities and to share a meal and
every year we have a weekend away together.
The youth cells are also part of the Leeds Youth Cell Network.
The
youth cells currently available meet during term-time on:
Wednesdays 7 - 8.30pm
Thursdays 7.30 - 9pm and 7 - 8.30pm
High
school age children
have
their own session on the first Sunday of each month in the
School Music Room
during the 10am Communion Service. Meets in
Church.
Scouts
(7th North Leeds Scout Troop)
The
Scout Section is for young people, usually aged between 10½
and 14 years.
We meet on a Thursday (term Time) 7.30 - 9pm, St. Matthew's
School Hall.
Scouting
is about being with friends, as part of a team,
participating fully in the adventure and opportunities of
life.
